Joe Olivieri




Joe Olivieri is a retired music educator. He has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Masters of Music Education degree with an emphasis in orchestral conducting from the University of Colorado in Boulder.


He has studied conducting with Wayman Walker from the University of Northern Colorado, Robert Olson from the University of Kansas, Kansas City, Allan McMurray from the University of Colorado, Boulder, H. Robert Reynolds from the University of Southern California, and Joanne Falletta during her tenure as conductor of the Denver Chamber Orchestra.


Director, Joe OlivieriJoe has been the conductor of The Pueblo Pops Orchestra, The Pikes Peak Philharmonic, Colorado High School All-State String Orchestra, Pueblo Municipal Band, the Craven County Community Concert Band, in New Bern, North Carolina, and founder and conductor of the New Bern Civic Strings. His energy and passion for music combined with the success of his groups has made him a favorite as a guest conductor.


He plays the trumpet and cornet. He currently performs with the Pikes Peak Brass Band and the Lincoln Street Brass Quintet.


Joe has had articles published in national education literature and has written a book titled “What Do You Think? A Guild for the Teacher in All of Us.”


Joe and his wife, Bonnie, reside in Colorado Springs. They enjoy the beauty which surrounds the area.
